Brentwood Self Storage was built in 1988 by Beck Company on a family owned parcel of land. The land had been owned by Fred Duke, a former mayor of Portsmouth and developer of the Battery Park neighborhood. Beck Company also built and owned for many years the Days Inn adjacent to the storage facility.

The solid all block construction with metal roof buildings houses over 500 units of various sizes ranging from 5x10 to 15x30. The perimeter of the facility is protected by chain link fencing and an electronic gate requiring access codes for entry.
